When a leading company serving the sod and turf industry contacted our team to help improve their turf harvesting process, we used our extensive experience in containment and agriculture applications to deliver a tailored solution.
Our Solution
In standard turf harvesting, grass has to grow roots that are deep enough to prevent separation when rolled during harvesting. We carefully studied the harvesting process and manufactured an extremely lightweight netting configuration with customized joint height and mesh size. Our netting let grass seeding grow in a uniform, solid structure, which allowed early root entanglement—enabling turf producers to harvest a crop sooner than their standard process. The new harvesting system with a SWM’s netting layer helped turf producers secure a second planting within the season.
