In our latest interview, we chatted with Andrew Topps, regional sales manager for building and construction about customer collaborations, finding the right netting for each application and trends shaping the building & construction industry.

Let’s dive into the interview!

Q: Tell us a little about your experience. When did you join Conwed? How long have you been focused on building and construction?

I started with Conwed 6½ years ago and have been fully immersed in the building and construction vertically throughout that period.

Q: What types of projects do you work on in your role? How would you describe your collaboration with our customers?

In my capacity, I architect and deliver two primary solution streams: commercial and residential flooring, that can be combined with noise controlling materials and agri netting for farming purposes.

To work with our clients, I start with workshops that bring everyone together to understand their needs. By confirming the technical specifications, I ensure that what we plan will actually work. Finally, we test, learn, and adjust by trying small versions, gathering feedback, and tweaking things before the full rollout.

Q: What are the key considerations when selecting the right construction netting for a project?

Our vendor qualification framework includes:

  • Dimensional fit: mesh configuration tailored to functional thresholds
  • Material specifications: resin grade, tensile strength, UV- and chemical-resistance
  • Performance validation: load testing aligned with regulatory mandates
  • Compliance posture: adherence to industry standards (e.g., ASTM, ISO) and localized building codes

With in-depth knowledge of materials, engineering, and regulatory requirements, we ensure the perfect netting solution for every application.

Q: What are current trends and developments that you observed in the building and construction market?

With the ongoing trade challenges, there has been an increase in inquiries about domestically sourced products throughout the supply chain. In response, Conwed is ramping up U.S.-based manufacturing to support domestic infrastructure needs, culminating in faster lead times for our partners.

Q: What do you enjoy most about your work?

I find the most value in cultivating authentic, long-term stakeholder relationships. Gaining insight into clients’ objectives both personally and professionally fosters trust, recurring engagement, and shared success.
